Description

A delightful contemporary cottage in a village location.

Description

A characterful yet contemporary Cotswold stone cottage nestled in the tranquil village of Stretton-on-Fosse, Lavender Cottage enjoys a peaceful location on a no-through road, surrounded by stunning countryside views. Currently a successful holiday let, it offers the option to be purchased as a going concern or as a delightful family home.

The accommodation is thoughtfully designed and well-presented. The entrance porch leads to a spacious kitchen/breakfast room, equipped with modern appliances, including an electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. There is room for a table and chairs. A convenient downstairs cloakroom adds to the practicality of the space. The sitting room features wooden floors, stone mullion windows, and a Cotswold stone fireplace with a wood-burning stove, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Upstairs are two generously sized bedrooms, one with picturesque views over the countryside, which are served by a modern family bathroom.

Outside, a private gravel driveway leads to an enclosed south facing rear terrace, which is perfect for al fresco dining.

Location

Stretton-On-Fosse is situated on the edge of the North Cotswold Hills in an extremely attractive area of countryside along the Warwickshire/Gloucestershire border. The village lies off to the west of the Roman Fosseway (A429) and is therefore located away from through traffic. It enjoys an historic village church and Inn, The Plough, whilst the two neighbouring towns of Shipston-on Stour-and Moreton-in-Marsh are both about four miles away offering a wide range of amenities including good schools, banks and speciality shops. From Moreton-in-Marsh there is also a mainline rail service to Worcester and London Paddington. The Kitebrook Preparatory School for 3–13-year-olds is about 6 miles. The award-winning Daylesford Farm Shop is about 8 miles away and Soho Farmhouse Members’ Club is about 18 miles.

The important surrounding centres of Stratford-upon-Avon (7 miles) and Cheltenham (26 miles) provide further cultural and recreational facilities, together with excellent independent and state schools.

For those interested in country pursuits the general area provides excellent riding and walking within countryside designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are excellent sporting opportunities in the region, including golf at Broadway and Stratford-upon-Avon. National Hunt Racing is at Cheltenham, Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick and polo at Cirencester. Other sporting venues include County Cricket at Worcester and rugby in Shipston-on-Stour. There are many scenic walking and cycling routes in the area including paths through the Heart of England Way.

The Cotswolds’ year is packed with events ranging from world famous international festivals like Cheltenham Literature Festival and Cheltenham Gold Cup Week, to major musical events such as the Wilderness Festival and the Big Feastival.
