Description

The Property
This stunning, beautifully restored, period semi-detached, six bedroom house, originally built c1865, is a lot of house for the money! Located on the East Cliff side of Ramsgate, its sandy beaches are at the bottom of the road, just a few moments walk away. The home has been sympathetically renovated and enhanced by the current owners, boasting original features throughout including ceiling roses, cornicing, corbels, alcoves and stained glass windows.

General Information
You enter the property via a traditionally tiled porch into an inviting entrance hallway. On the ground floor the ornate Victorian fireplace recently installed with coal-effect gas fire, and stained glass windows create an atmospheric and relaxed setting. The aesthetically designed kitchen is laid out in such a way that makes preparation of any kind of meal hassle free whilst having the space to enjoy a catch-up with guests. The kitchen is equipped with a drinking filter tap that bypasses the property’s water softening system. From both the living area and kitchen you can enter the garden which catches the sun from morning until evening. It is paved and decked to provide low maintenance tranquility, with raised flower beds.

The first and second floors of the property continue to be steeped in original features with stunning cornicing in the master bedroom and corbels on the landing areas. The bathroom and shower room have both been renovated to a high standard and benefit from the property’s integrated water softener which prevents calcium build up in the shower and taps, as well as all the kitchen appliances. The main bedroom on the first floor has a balcony with sea views – perfect for a morning coffee.

As a contrast, the top floor of the property (bedroom 6) is the epitome of contemporary design, set up as a cinema room. It is sound proofed and fitted with an integrated surroundsound system and hidden, atmospheric LED lights which can be changed, via a remote, to various colours and settings – the ambience is enticing. The original beams are exposed and create a cosy feel. From this room panoramic sea views can be enjoyed: south east across the North sea where you can see France on a clear day, and south west across to Pegwell Bay.

Features
Additionally the property is fitted with a heat control system and, on every floor, a smoke alarm/carbon monoxide/night light system which is WiFi connected and can be managed by an app on your smart phone, whether at home or away.

Storage is not an issue in this property as there is plenty of space in both the eaves of the cinema room and a handy basement! Furthermore the bay windows on the ground and first floor have had the original wooden frames restored and micro double glazing fitted.

Viewing is strongly encouraged as this spectacular Victorian residence is one of a kind and would make the perfect seaside home.

Location
Ramsgate is a historic seaside town in east Kent, famous for its connection to Queen Victoria and the Victorian era generally. It is admired for its wonderful architecture and being home to the only Royal Harbour in the UK.

Architect A W Pugin and his sons lived here and built St Augustine’s Church, The Grange, St Augustine’s Abbey and the Granville Hotel. Vincent van Gogh moved to Ramsgate in 1876 and taught at local school in Royal Road.

During the 1960s Ramsgate’s popularity waned, as did many of Britain’s seaside resorts, with growing competition from cheap package holidays abroad. But in recent years, with a fast rail link to Kings Cross St Pancras opening, considerable local regeneration, a desire to move away from the city centre and the popularity of hybrid working, Ramsgate is now experiencing an exciting Renaissance and is considered a UK property hotspot, along with its neighbour, Margate. Ramsgate property prices are expected to see above average growth during 2025.
