Seaview West is situated in the delightful little coastal ribbon settlement of Skipness on the Kintyre Peninsula, just to the south of the west coast fishing harbour town of Tarbert.
The house is situated immediately on the foreshore with only the minor single-track road to the front and consequently with ever changing and always dramatic views across the Kilbrannan Sound to the Islands of Arran and Bute & south towards Carradale & Campbeltown.
Tarbert town centre is about 12.5 miles to the north and the A83 makes it easily accessible by car.
Tarbert is a pleasant west coast fishing and yachting harbour town with local shops and services easily catering for everyday needs and requirements. There are several friendly harbour pubs and restaurants. Tarbert is also renowned for hosting the annual Scottish Series Yachting Event, and for its Seafood and Folk Festivals. The acclaimed Seafood Cabin & Skipness Smokehouse at Skipness Castle are merely a gentle stroll away.
Groceries & barista-style coffee are available in the Skipness Village Store, just a few metres from the property. Shopping is also available in Tarbert where there is a well-stocked Co-op midi market, fuller weekly shopping is available at Lochgilphead and Campbeltown.
Leisure facilities are diverse. Lochgilphead has a local swimming pool and sports centre. A thriving marina is in the sheltered inner part of Tarbert harbour and scenic inshore sailing is available in surrounding sea lochs and the Kyles of Bute. The Crinan Canal that connects Loch Fyne at Ardrishaig with Loch Crinan & onwards to Mull & indeed the entire world-renowned West Coast sailing waters including the Inner & Outer Hebrides.
As with most parts of Scotland one is never too far from a golf course and there are challenging courses at both Lochgilphead and Tarbert but the jewels in the crown are a little further south at Machrihanish, Machrihanish Dunes & Dunaverty at Southend. Indeed, the Machrihanish links golf course offers one of the top golfing destinations in the UK and attracts international golfers & is especially renowned for its ‘Best opening hole in golf in the World’ with its challenging drive over the Atlantic!
Productive sea fishing from shore and boat can be had on Loch Fyne & Kilbrannan Sound and there are trout and salmon opportunities by permit in surrounding rivers and hill lochs.
The countryside is a delight in which to walk or cycle and there is no shortage of scenic routes and places of archaeological and historical interest to visit. The Kintyre Way is a waymarked footpath through the Kintyre peninsula, it passes in front of the property. It runs between Tarbert in the North where the peninsula is linked to Knapdale, earning Kintyre’s adage of ‘Almost an Island!’, southwards via Campbeltown to Machrihanish & then Southend at the tip of the peninsula. The way is 161 kilometres long and is fully waymarked. Additionally, there are distance markers at 1-mile intervals along the route. The route is primarily intended for walkers, but most sections can also be cycled.
Skipness is also particularly well situated for easy access by ferry to the nearby Islands of Arran & Islay & also the Cowal Peninsula. The famous ‘Five Ferries’ cycle route passes only a mile or two from the door of Seaview West.
The beaches and coastal waters offer multiple water leisure facilities with both surfing and inshore sea kayaking proving very popular. Dolphins are often seen from the property and otters can regularly be spotted nearby.

Directions
From Glasgow city centre travel in a westerly direction on the M8 motorway. Leave the motorway at J30 following signs for Erskine Bridge. Proceed over bridge turning left on to the A82. Remain on the A82 for 25 miles going up Loch Lomond side. Bear left at Tarbet on to the A83. Remain on the A83 for 61 miles passing through Inveraray, Furnace, Minard, Lochgilphead and Ardrishaig before arriving in Tarbert. At Tarbert continue south on the A83 for a further 5 miles, pass the Caledonian MacBrayne ferry terminal for Islay. After the terminal proceed for a further half mile then turn left onto the B8001 following signs Skipness & Carradale. Continue on the B8001 to reach the small ferry terminal at Cloanaig. Follow signs for Skipness and after 2.1 miles to Skipness, Seaview West is on the left-hand side.
An alternative scenic route to Glasgow is by ferry from Tarbert to Portavadie and then by A8000 to Dunoon and a further ferry from Dunoon to Gourock."
