Useful Information - Some frequently asked questions and answer from the current owners

Q: What do you love most about living on this road?
A: Definitely the community spirit. We have a really friendly WhatsApp group for residents where people share advice, recommend tradespeople, pass on kids’ activities, or even offer things to recycle. There are lots of families with young children who go to the same schools and nurseries, and you’ll often see them playing safely in the lane behind the houses.

Q: It feels like a quiet area, although it is close to the highstreet. Is it?
A: The garden is incredibly quiet and peaceful. Friends often comment on how calm it feels. You can hear birdsong through the open windows, and even on the short walk to school it feels more like a leafy neighbourhood than somewhere near the buzz of the town centre. We are lucky this is not a through road, traffic goes through Queen Anne Avenue.

Q: What about commuting into London?
A: That’s been one of the best things. We’re less than a 15-minute walk from two train stations. The fast trains get you to Victoria quickly, and there are also frequent services to Blackfriars and other destinations. It’s very convenient for us when we’re heading into the office a couple of days a week.

Q: Do you work from home much?
A: Yes, two or three days a week. The loft extension has been brilliant — we’ve set it up as dedicated office space, which keeps us separate from the noise downstairs when the kids are home.

Q: What are the schools like in the area?
A: We’re lucky to have several fantastic schools within walking distance. Our children love them, and they offer plenty of activities and after-school clubs too.

Q: Is there space for bikes and outdoor gear?
A: Absolutely. We’re outdoorsy, and the garage has been ideal for storing bikes, our inflatable canoe, and all the other gear.

Q: Terraced houses often lack easy garden access — how does yours work?
A: That’s one of the real perks here. We have access to the back garden through the alley behind the houses, so there’s no need to bring bikes or the lawnmower through the house. The alley itself is also a safe spot for kids to practice cycling or to pick blackberries in summer.

Q: We’ve heard some houses here come with extra land. Does yours?
A: Yes, behind the garage. We haven’t really used it much, but some of our neighbours have turned theirs into veggie patches, storage spaces, or even home gyms.

Q: How about local shops and amenities?
A: The high street is just a short walk away, with plenty of cafés and shops. We often walk rather than use the car, which has been a big lifestyle benefit.

Q: Have you thought about extending the house?
A: When we bought the property ten years ago, we did think about extending at the back. In the end, family life took over and we didn’t go ahead, but some of our neighbours have done it, and others have had planning permission approved. So the potential is definitely there.
