In the historic centre of Letojanni and a few steps from the sea, this elegant apartment enchants with its decorations and frescoes that recall early 19th-century Sicilian architecture. The apartment is located on the second floor of the rich mansion, the one that was the summer residence of the well-known Sicilian writer and poet Bianca Garufi, to whom Cesare Pavese dedicated the well-known text "Dialogues with Leucò" .
Built in 1823, the ancient palace covers two floors above ground and includes two independent residential units with respective outdoor spaces. The common courtyard is enriched by a delightful pergola with lush greenery and anticipates the entrance to the property; from here, an elegant door opens onto the staircase leading to the landing, which separates the two units.
The apartment covers an area of about one hundred and eighty square meters and enjoys triple overlooking. The recent renovation also involved the facade and the roof covering, which brought to light an ancient attic space with a level terrace overlooking the sea. Currently the unit is divided into three independent two-bedroom apartments, with respective living and kitchens, bedroom and bathroom, but the actual condition can be turned around to restore the property to its original state, that is, a large apartment with large and bright rooms connected to each other. The renovation preserved the most beautiful vaults, those with decorations and frescoes, while others were removed to place the staircase, which in the design idea connects the main floor to the attic space. The result is a large double-height space, a perfect fusion of modernity and timeless classicism. Each room offers a view of typical stone balconies, and from here it is possible to admire a glimpse of the sea and the vitality of the historic center. A delightful garden spreads across the back and can become the perfect place for outdoor dining or shelter from the summer heat.
