The Property. The Carthouse is a sunny, luxury 3-bed detached house. It has an open-plan lounge/dining room and a fully fitted modern kitchen. The whole ground floor is tiled with large limestone flag tiles. There is a utility room and a downstairs bathroom with a shower. A ground floor bedroom/study leads off from the central lobby. A feature wooden staircase leads to a vaulted bridge connecting the 2 upstairs bedrooms. The master bedroom has an adjoining family bathroom with a shower over the bath. The ground floor has full underfloor heating while upstairs is heated by radiators. Hot water is supplied by a large tank and the external boiler is oil-fired. The property has fast fibre broadband. Great for home-workers. The house is rated Band D For council tax and is well insulated so very frugal with energy.
Outside. The front drive has parking for 3 cars. The secluded back garden is terraced and comprises a large sandstone patio with the remainder laid to lawn. There is a small summerhouse for storage and gardening equipment. Tenants will be expected to do just the basic garden maintenance. A lawn mower is supplied.
The Location. The Carthouse is tucked away in the countryside in ‘The Chutes’ on a secluded track on the edge of the village. It is close to bluebell woods and lovely walks, but also only 10 minutes from the shops. The nearest large towns are Andover to the southeast, and Marlborough and Hungerford to the north. The village has a delightful lively traditional thatched pub - The Hatchet. That is an easy 5-min walk! Chute has a large playing field with a fenced-off child play area with swings, climbing frames etc. Cricket is played in the summer and the annual village fete is exceptionally well attended.
Letting. The Carthouse is fully furnished and equipped, but we can remove some items if you have particular furniture you’d like to bring. Well-behaved pets are very welcome. Smoking outside only please. Most tenants prefer to have bills (less oil) included.
We live very nearby and built The Carthouse from a disused barn in 2010/11. We will be on hand to sort any maintenance snags. We seek tenants who value the tranquility of The Chutes and who will respect this lovely house and the village. We will offer a discount for long commitment and payment up front.
