Description
Situated upon this highly regarded, tranquil lane of impressive residences, is this truly magnificent country home which provides a stunning array of living space that has been painstakingly restored and extended, enjoying multi aspects and afforded much natural light.
With accommodation extending to 5500sqft, Christmas Cottage is an enchanting period home which hosts the most striking of extensions, with the highest standard of craftsmanship in oak carpentry and stone masonry to reflect its original heritage.
The accommodation is vast, including an open plan luxurious kitchen living room, practical for the cook and ideally sociable for entertaining comprising full width windows overlooking the beautiful courtyard and feature ceiling lanterns. The drawing room is breath taking. Double height, vaulted oak beams and stone architraving with a galleried landing provide the backdrop to the centrepiece which is the exquisite stone fireplace.
There is a delightful blend of cosy period rooms including the snug with its Inglenook fireplace and more contemporary living spaces including the open plan library and vaulted glass walkway which links the extension beautifully.
There are six vast bedrooms with five bathrooms, each elegantly and traditionally styled and the grandeur of the principal bedrooms are enhanced by balcony facilities to enjoy the view over the rear garden which is exquisitely landscaped to include lawns, woodland and a feature courtyard.
The well designed basement serves as further useful accommodation, equally well fitted with much versatility as a gym, cinema or games room whilst there is office or further bedroom facility above the double garage.
The grounds extend to circa 1.5 acres of total privacy, secluded by mature woodlands and incorporating a small paddock, attractive walks, generous parking and beautiful large courtyard which is an impressive summer entertainment venue. There are meandering pathways and lawns which create a lovely environment and cottage feel.

Sherfield English is a small, popular village with an excellent community spirit just a short drive from the market town of Romsey and nestled around a two mile stretch of the A27. For its size it enjoys a surprising array of traditional amenities, benefitting from a thriving and popular public house, The Hatchet, which is frequented by many of the locals from neighbouring villages as well as Sherfield English. It is also served by an excellent local shop and Post Office, choice of tea rooms and village hall that hosts a wide variety of activities and events which all residents are encouraged to join in. Sporting activities are prevalent with an impressive recreation ground and new pavilion which is the envy of every village in the Test Valley. Sherfield English is still quite largely a farming community with most of its houses, cottages and isolated farms scattered along narrow leafy lanes, unseen by those who pass through on the main road. The active church, St Leonards, houses some fine art nouveau style stained glass windows and a particularly fine set of bells. The impressive pavilion and recreation ground serve the football, bowls, croquet, tennis and cricket clubs as well as rounders which is played as an annual competitive but good-humoured tournament.
