Description

A handsome and spacious, six bedroom period house in beautiful landscaped gardens and a convenient position.

Description

The Old Vicarage is an exceptionally handsome house with 1800’s origins that offers very generous family accommodation, which is light and airy and flows from one room to the next. There is also excellent outdoor entertaining space, and throughout the house are high ceilings and oak flooring to certain rooms.

The solid wood front door, with fan light above, opens to an entrance hall with a feature fireplace, door to a cloakroom and a door to stairs that lead down to a superb wine cellar. The entrance hall flows through to the library that has a feature fireplace and a range of built-in bookshelves.

From the library, it flows through to the double aspect sitting room, which has a working fireplace and French doors to the wonderful garden room that provides a fabulous view of the gardens.

From the sitting room a door opens to a rear hall where there is a spiral staircase within the turret and a door to a spacious double aspect study.

The garden room leads through to a useful boot room and onwards to the large kitchen/dining room that is also accessed from the entrance hall. The fitted kitchen offers a range of built-in cupboards, including a hideaway home office, and a large breakfast island. There are granite worktops and appliances include Miele electric oven, steam oven, warming drawer and an induction hob with a downdraft extractor. Freestanding appliances include a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher and Sub-Zero fridge freezer. French doors open to a wonderful decked terrace, creating a superb indoor combined with outdoor entertaining space.

From the kitchen and entrance hall doors open to a large formal dining room and onwards to a family room, off which is a door to a fitted utility room with space for two larder fridges and a separate washing machine and tumble dryer. There is also a door to a side entrance hall.

From the hall, an oak staircase rises to a large galleried landing with a fine, feature stained glass window. The landing is also accessed via the spiral staircase. The triple aspect principal bedroom has an exposed timber frame, walk-in wardrobe and a well-appointed en suite fitted with a corner shower and a roll top bath.

There are five further bedrooms served by a separate WC, family bathroom fitted with a bath and double shower enclosure, and a family shower room fitted with a walk-in double shower that is Jack and Jill to two of the double bedrooms.

The wonderful west and south facing grounds extend to about 1.65 acres.

Electric gates open to brick paved parking for numerous cars and the detached double garage, with two electric doors and electric car charging point, has a useful home office above with a shower room, which alternatively could be used as ancillary accommodation.

Across the front of the house is a mature creeping hydrangea and the front lawned garden is edged with mature beds. There is a feature solid wood arched door that opens to the rear gardens.

The large, rear multilevel lawned garden is beautifully landscaped and comprises a number of strategic seating areas, well-stocked beds and a very well maintained tennis court.

Immediately at the rear of the house is paved terracing and a large composite decked terrace with a pergola over, creating a wonderful al fresco dining and entertaining area.
At the top of the garden are steps up to a decked terrace, from which wonderful far reaching countryside views can be enjoyed to the distant Malvern Hills. There is also a lower paved and gravel terrace that overlooks the tennis court.

There is a wildlife pond at the bottom of the garden and double gates, opening from the private shared drive extending along the southern boundary, provide a vehicular access point to the rear garden.

Throughout the grounds are a range of mature trees, and of particular note is the mature and majestic Copper Beech tree and the Lime tree in the rear garden.
