Barmoor is an area towards the west end of Ryton just along from Crawcrook, which are both popular villages at the edge of the Tyne Valley with local amenities including shops, churches, schools, public houses, cafes and public transport / major road links to the other surrounding villages and towns in the region as well as to the Metro Centre and Newcastle city centre, which is approximately 7.5 miles to the east. There are countryside and riverside walks and cycle routes in the area, which is at the edge of Tyne and Wear and Northumberland. The nearest train stations are in Blaydon, Wylam and Prudhoe, along the Newcastle to Carlisle line.
