Ringmore is an old smuggling village, well known for its old church and colour washed cottages, not far from the cliff tops just around from Bigbury Bay. The beach at Ayrmer cove is within walking distance and is not generally known about except by villagers. The village is on the bus route and some five miles away is the Georgian town of Modbury, which is well provided with a range of local shops. For more comprehensive shopping centres Kingsbridge is to the east and Plymouth is to the north west. Nearby there are other beaches and coves, as well as fine cliff top and coastal walks, and an 18 hole golf course at Bigbury. Further afield there is sailing at Salcombe and Newton Ferrers and Dartmoor National Park is to the north.
