The Property

Deanwood is a fine example of a large family home dating back to the 1930’s, with a lovely flow and sense of space as soon as you enter the property.

The recessed, part-glazed door opens into the entrance hall, where there is ample space for coats, and understairs WC. The stairs to the first floor, and panelling to the understairs, are a light, pitch pine, and a window to the side of the house adds to the natural light.

To the left are the two reception rooms, which create one long reception room when the double doors between the two are open: ideal for family gatherings. Each section has a fireplace, with tiled hearth and pine surround, art nouveau tiled inserts with tulip motifs. The sitting room, to the front, has a bay window and the dining room has French doors out to the terrace and rear garden.

The kitchen is bright, with windows to three elevations, well-proportioned with ample space for the kitchen island in the centre of the room to complement the base and wall units.
There is a 4-ring hob with extractor above, an eye-level electric oven, ceramic sink with 1½ bowls and drainer, integrated dishwasher, space for washing machine, dryer, and fridge-freezer. The rear door and main windows open out to the rear garden.

On the first floor landing, pitch pine doors lead into the main rooms. The main bedroom is to the front, with a large bay window facing east to catch the morning sun, and with large fitted wardrobes with sliding doors.

The second bedroom, also well-proportioned, has fitted wardrobes and views, west, over the garden.

The third bedroom, with en-suite shower room, makes an ideal guest bedroom. It is a double bedroom, with oriel window to the front and the en-suite has a tiled shower enclosure with electric shower and glass screen, pedestal basin and WC, with an obscure-glazed window to the rear of the house.

The fourth bedroom, currently presented as a study, is a single bedroom with oriel window to the front elevation.

The family bathroom has ceramic tiled flooring, P-shaped bath with mains shower over, vanity basin and WC. There is a chrome ladder radiator and an obscure-glazed window to the rear of the property.

Outside

The property is approached from the Homend via the asphalt driveway which provides space for several vehicles to the front of the house. Mature shrubs and hedges surround the front garden and a block-paved path leads to the recessed front door.

To the rear, steps lead down from the kitchen and from the French doors in the dining room, to a large terrace which in turn leads to the wide, paved path, with lawns either side. A further set of steps leads to a lower terrace where the path meanders through the lawn to a decked area and a large timber shed. This second area, mainly laid to lawn, with mature shrubs, creates a private, enclosed, west-facing space to enjoy the afternoon and evening sun.

On a practical note, there is an outdoor tap, outdoor sockets, lights, and storage for bins to the side.
