Description

This once modest mid 19th century cottage has been much improved and extended over the past 50 years by our current owners, and is now in need of some further updating, 'The Cottage' offers a unique opportunity for buyers looking to purchase an individual family house and create their own dream home, in a most idyllic village setting.

Set just off the picturesque square on the south/westerly fringes of Winscombe, the cottage sits under the gaze of the historic Grade 1 Listed church of St. James. Originally a small two up two down workers cottage, the property now offers in excess of 1800 sq ft of spacious accommodation arranged over two floors.

Approaching the cottage there is a good sized driveway to the left of the property leading to a large double garage/workshop, with a wood store to the side and gated access to the garden. Entering the cottage there is a spacious reception hallway within which you will find a large storage/cloak cupboard and stairs rising to the first floor. To the right of the hallway is a lovely triple aspect sitting room with a handsome stone fireplace and wooden beams, and to the other side of the hallway sits a good sized separate dining/family room. Continuing through to the rear of the house there is a fantastic family sized kitchen/breakfast room which overlooks the westerly facing rear garden. There is a cupboard housing the gas combination boiler and a handy ground floor cloakroom. The kitchen is fitted with a range of wall and base units in a traditional farmhouse style with plumbing for a washing machine and dishwasher, space for a fridge/freezer, twin eye level ovens and an attractive wood panelled ceiling. There is plenty of space for a family sized dining table and a door leading out to the side.

On the first floor you will find four bedrooms arranged off a spacious galleried landing area, the master bedroom enjoys a sunny aspect to the rear of the house and includes an en-suite shower room and fitted wardrobes. The rural views from the window out over the rear garden are truly delightful. There are a further two double bedrooms and a good sized single room which share use of the family bathroom.

Outside you will find a super private garden which as previously mentioned has a lovely westerly aspect, it is enclosed by mature hedges and fencing on all sides with a delightful Patio area, large area of lawn, and a variety of established trees including a gorgeous Winter Cherry, along with a wide variety of shrubs and a handy outside water tap.

DIRECTIONS Travelling south from Bristol on the A38 proceed through Churchill, Star and Sidcot.
