MONTEODORISIO - CHIETI PROVINCE
An attractive village that rises in a strategic position along the valley of the Sinello river, just 17 minutes from the Adriatic coast. It is 315 metres above sea level, and, in the Middle Ages, its position was stregthened by the construction of a massive castle which stood on top of the village. The castle can be seen today with its three circular towers and 4 metres high, ramparts. The remains of the medieval town walls are also still apparent.
The Madonna della Grazie Sancturary is located, in the vicinity, and is a place of pilgrimage on the first Sunday each September.
Monteodorisio has plenty of facilities to accommodate its 2,483 inhabitants including food shops, bars and restaurants. There is a weekly market, each Tuesday, selling local produce. The lively town of Vasto is only 10 minutes away.
