Ovington is a small and pictureaque semi-rural village located in the Tyne Valley between the River Tyne and the A69 highway, close to Ovingham, Wylam and Prudhoe. There are some local facilities in the village - including Winships Little Med restaurant and the Community Centre, which is the hub for various activities - and there are nearby train stations in both Wylam and Prudhoe, along the line between Newcastle and Carlisle. The A695 and A69 provide road links to the surrounding area and to Newcastle city centre, which is approximately 13 miles to the east, and Hexham 11 miles to the west. There are many popular local walks and cycle routes in the area, including along the River Tyne, and local schools in Ovingham, Prudhoe and Ryton.
