Elsdon provides easy access to the Coquet Valley, the Simonside Hills and the Cheviot Hills. There is direct access to Harwood Forest with miles of walking and cycling routes, including the Sandstone Way and St Oswald’s Way.

Kielder Water and Forest Park are within easy reach and provide a wide range of activities including water sports, an observatory, sculpture trail, mountain biking and a multi purpose track for running and cycling.

There are two National Trust properties within easy reach, Wallington Hall and Cragside House and Gardens.

The market towns of Alnwick to the east and Hexham to the south west provide a wider range of retail, educational and professional services, together with hospital facilities. The vibrant city of Newcastle offers an extensive range of cultural, recreational, educational and retail amenities and is just over 30 miles away.

For commuters, the A696 and A68 provide excellent links to the A1 and A69. The A68 also connects north towards Edinburgh. Newcastle railway station provides regular services to London and the south, while Morpeth railway station also offers direct services north and south. Newcastle International Airport is within easy reach.
