Description

An exciting opportunity to acquire a traditional two-bedroom bothy cottage, set in a spectacular location on the ever-popular Isle of Mull.

Situated in a wonderful rural location with open views over Loch Scridain, Achadhiseil offers buyers an opportunity to acquire an enchanting, traditional cottage, a wonderful place to find isolation and adventure.

The property is accessed by a shared private track from the single-track island road and benefits from a wonderful, elevated position, with open seas views.

Entrance to the property is from the front, with a glazed sunroom leading through to the kitchen. A central hallway gives access to the sitting room and two bedrooms, the largest of which enjoys open views to the front.

The property benefited from planning permission under reference number 09/01695/PP to extend the house with wonderful, flowing property layout that includes three front-facing bedrooms, a linking hallway, open plan kitchen, dining and living area, family bathroom and utility room giving access to a second WC.

Achadhiseil sits in a plot area extending to approximately 0.31 acres. The access track leads to a parking area adjacent to the house, suitable for parking several vehicles. The house is positioned to the front of the land, capitalising on the wonderful open views across Loch Scridain towards Pennyghael.

To the left of the property, an area of the grounds has been landscaped, with a garden path leading up to an area of lawn. A gated access provides access to the back of the house where a log store is located. A sizable garden shed is located adjacent to the main house.

The property is located on the Burg Peninsula, a spectacularly beautiful area of Mull, popular with those looking to observe golden eagles, feral goats, red deer and otters. The Burg is also famous for MacCulloch’s fossil tree, a 50 million year old fossil imprint of a tree trunk visible in the cliffs, a walk popular with those looking to explore this exciting geological feature.

The Isle of Mull is the second largest island within the Inner Hebrides. The island is accessed via a regular car ferry service from Oban to Craignure. Services from Lochaline and Kilchoan on the Morvern and Ardnamurchan peninsulas respectively are also available. There is a small airstrip at Glenforsa suitable for private aircraft and a main line train service operating several times daily between Glasgow and Oban - some connecting directly with the ferries.

Mull boasts an extraordinary and diverse range of scenery, wildlife and leisure activities which brings large numbers of visitors throughout the year. The island also hosts a number of music and arts festivals plus the annual Tour of Mull car rally. In the sea surrounding Mull there are various trips provided to local puffin and seal colonies and also to Iona, and the island of Staffa where many tourists visit Fingal’s Cave.

Services include private water, mains electricity, private drainage, BT phone and internet connectivity, Vodafone 4G reception.
