There are two very active and popular pubs in the village, one of which is a small hotel. There is also Batemans National Trust House, the former home of Rudyard Kipling. They own much of the land to the South of the village over which are public footpaths and to the north is farmland, also with footpaths.
Etchingham Station is only 2.6 miles distant and has a service to London Bridge and Charing Cross. There is a bus service to the station and also into Heathfield. The nearest supermarkets are in Heathfield about 6.6 miles distant and Battle about 9.6 miles.

Directions. From the High Street of Burwash, going east, pass through the village and around a left hand bend, start indicating and Hoppers Croft will be found on the left, before Shrub Lane.
