The coastline in this area is a mixture of sandy beaches and rocky bays. The remains of the old mining towers and railways can be seen if you follow the coast road south towards Villaricos, an ancient fishing village with 2 marinas and a harbour. Driving north you come to the town of Aquilas which boasts one the best Carnivals in the area early in the year. Here too there is a castle to explore and various picturesque walks. There is also a superb esplanade with views of the marina, harbour and beaches.
