Seller Insight:

What is your favourite room in the house and why?

Our favourite room has to be the open plan living, dining, and kitchen area downstairs. It’s truly the heart of the home - a space where everyone naturally gathers. Whether you're hosting friends for dinner or enjoying a relaxed weekend with family, it’s perfect. On sunny days, we love opening the French doors and - it creates a seamless indoor-outdoor feel that’s ideal for entertaining. It’s a space that feels both luxurious and comfortable - you instantly feel your home

Who do you think will be the ideal new owner?

We think the next ideal owner could be someone looking to downsize without compromising on charm and comfort - this home has all the character of a period property, but without the usual maintenance headaches. It would also be a fantastic fit for young families with its sociable living spaces and bedrooms. For anyone who loves a home with personality, warmth, and that ‘ready to move into’ feeling - this place is perfect.

What do you love most and why?

Honestly, it’s hard to choose just one thing - we love everything about this house. The sash windows are not only full of character but designed to be easy clean, the bedrooms are all generously sized so everyone gets their own space, and the garden catches the sun for most of the day. The separate utility area is such a bonus, keeping the kitchen clear and clutter-free, and the car port has been a game changer in winter - no more scraping icy windscreens! We love sitting with our coffee in the morning looking out over the green - it's so peaceful and never gets old.

The location is just awesome. You feel like you’re in the depths of the countryside here and can do so many ‘country’ activities within five to fifteen minutes of your doorstep - yet you can be in the middle of Swindon in twelve minutes, it really is the perfect place. Lauren is really into horse riding, and she has now been able to join a local riding school. We have both joined a local shooting club which is a three-to-four-minute drive from Burderop Park; we both go out cycling and there are great running routes around here.

What do you love about the local community?

It’s the kind of place where neighbours genuinely look out for each other - whether it’s taking in a parcel, organising fireworks nights and trick-or-treat events for the kids, or even returning your dog when you’ve (accidentally!) left them on the doorstep. There’s a real warmth and friendliness here that’s hard to find - it feels safe, welcoming, and like a true neighbourhood where people care. It’s something we’ll really miss.

How easy is it to commute from here?

The location is incredibly well-connected, which has been a huge advantage for us. We work in Wales, Oxford, Bristol, Reading and London - the first four an easy hour’s drive away, making it ideal for anyone with a regional commute. For travelling to the capital - it’s ~50 mins into London Paddington by train from Swindon which is both quick and reliable, and only a short drive away. For frequent travellers, both Bristol and Heathrow airports are just over an hour by car, which has made getting away really straightforward. Whether you're travelling for work or pleasure, this location offers the perfect balance of countryside calm and city convenience.

What made you choose this property over others?

We actually had our eye on this development before they broke ground - we knew from the start it was something different. What really stood out to us was the way City & Country build their homes. Unlike many new builds, this property has so much character and charm, combined with the highest quality finishes. It didn’t feel like a ‘typical’ new build - it felt like a home with personality. The attention to detail is exceptional, and you get all the benefits of modern, energy-efficient living without compromising on style or substance. It was an easy choice!

At the back of the house, the sleek, modern kitchen has been fitted with high-end, integrated appliances including a Bosch induction hob, oven and Zanussi dishwasher and fridge freezer alongside Silestone worksurfaces over. Completing the ground floor is the spacious guest cloakroom and a large utility cupboard. Underfloor heating has been fitted throughout the ground floor.

There are two allocated parking spaces within a carport at the rear of the property with two further visitor spaces next door. The carport is fitted with an EV charging point.

Location:

At Burderop Park you really do get “the best of both” when it comes to being in the open countryside and also well connected to local amenities such as shops, pubs and shopping opportunities all within the nearby towns and villages of Wroughton and Chiseldon. On the door-step are historical landmarks such as Barbury Castle as well as endless rural walks, cycling routes and bridleways up on The Ridgeway.

The nearby village of Wroughton provides an extensive range of amenities including nearby schooling at primary and secondary levels, doctors' surgery, Churches, leisure centre, pool, library, public houses and shopping facilities. There is also a nearby Waitrose on the outskirts of the village, as well as the thriving market town of Marlborough being just 15 min away offering a further range of boutique shops, bars, cafes and restaurants.
