Description

A stunning, unique period home in a charming village

Description

This stylish and unique period school conversion offers flexible, modern living space arranged over two levels.

Set behind an electronically controlled gated frontage, there is parking for several cars in front of the garage and home studio/gym.

The entrance hallway is a vast space with lots of natural light from the full height windows and doors opening onto the garden. A custom built slide adjacent to the staircase from the first floor provides a faster descent if required. This hallway provides further living space, as it is open plan with the modern fitted kitchen and morning room. The kitchen has a peninsular unit and hi end fitted appliances as well as a useful, walk in larder.

The additional reception areas provide more private spaces with a sitting room enjoying a wonderful aspect over the gardens and connecting with a second reception that could be used as a dining or family room. Moving to the front of the house there is a dedicated library or study, plus a snug TV room and a utility room.

There are two staircases in the house. One serves a dedicated guest bedroom with en suite, the other to the four remaining bedrooms, one of which is en suite plus a family bathroom and separate shower room. Many of these rooms enjoy high vaulted ceilings and lots of natural light.

Moving outside, the house enjoys a wrap around garden, with plenty of interest including a decked patio area, a further semi circular seating space, various mature flower and shrub borders and a chicken run.

Location

This charming period home is superbly located in the heart of the picturesque village of Furneux Pelham yet within a short distance of larger villages and the market towns of Bishop’s Stortford and Saffron Walden.

There is a network of footpaths and bridleways criss crossing the local countryside, most of which lead to a pub.

There are several highly regarded pubs locally, The Brewery Tap at Furneux Pelham itself, the Catherine Wheel in Albury, The Black Horse at Brent Pelham and the Golden Fleece and The Brown Bear in Braughing.

This house is located just under 6.5 miles from the market town of Bishop’s Stortford and just over 5 miles from Buntingford, where you will find an excellent selection of boutique shops, coffee shops and restaurants.

Furneux Pelham is well positioned for the A120 to the south, giving access to Bishop’s Stortford and the M11 (Junction 8) to the east, and the A10 serving Cambridge and London to the west.
Furneux Pelham has a Church of England Primary school, with St Mary’s Church more or less opposite this house.

The nearby villages of Brent Pelham, Braughing, Albury and Little Hadham provide excellent local primary schools with the larger town of Bishop’s Stortford also providing a further selection of both state and private schooling for all ages.
