Mere lies at the Southwestern tip of Salisbury Plain, within Wiltshire and close to the Somerset and Dorset boarders. Gillingham nearby has a Waitrose supermarket and is the closest railway station with good links to London. The attractions at Longleat House and the National Trust gardens at Stourhead are both less than 15 miles away.

Transport links are excellent with easy access to the A303.
