Description
The Tour
The apartment is approached via a communal gate, which leads to a separate private entrance. This opens to a private garden: a jovial, enticing welcome to the apartment. From here, postbox-red Crittall-style doors establish a motif that runs throughout and open directly onto a spacious living, dining and kitchen area.
Smooth off-white resin floors create a neutral backdrop for the bespoke kitchen at the rear. Curved cherry wood cabinets and a tongue-and-groove splashback evoke a mid-century atmosphere, and an island doubles as a dining and cooking area, with a central induction hob. Created with monochrome marble, its playful, wavy steelwork mimics the rounded edges of the surrounding units.
A chequerboard floor grounds the hallway, which leads to two double bedrooms and a light-filled bathroom. The principal bedroom has been painted a vivid lime green and has plenty of storage in the form of full-height cabinetry.
The second bedroom, with walls washed in a soothing lavender, has an en suite wet room partly enclosed with glass bricks to allow natural light to permeate. Hexagonal white tiles establish a stark, textural contrast against the black suite. Both bedrooms have sliding walnut doors to maximise space, as well as additional Crittall-stye doors that open directly to the patio garden.
Soft, organic curves continue within the main bathroom, which has a separate bath and shower. Predominantly clad in wisteria tiles, a fresh, clean approach characterises the room, which has plenty of storage set underneath the sink.
Outdoor Space
Mediterranean-inspired, the garden has been laid with terracotta and slate tiles. Thoughtfully planted with ferns, acers and climbing xx to ensure that it remains leafy throughout the seasons. Tall white-washed walls ensure this remains a private, peaceful space, where doors to the apartment can be left open during the summer months. Its east-facing position means it receives the morning sun, and is a wonderful spot to have a coffee outdoors.
The Area
Chatsworth Road, which runs north from Homerton to Millfield’s Park and Hackney Marshes, is a popular area of Clapton, in part due to independent shops, cafés and restaurants, including Leo’s, ramen café Men, specialist suppliers L’epicerie 56 and The London Borough of Jam. Stone Bros is excellent for coffee, as is Fink's Chats, and there is a weekly food market on Sundays. Neighbourhood gem, The Castle Cinema, is independently crowdfunded and shows blockbusters and arthouse cinema alike.
Other popular local spots include Uchi, My Neighbours The Dumplings, and Lucky & Joy. The Elderfield pub is a short walk away and is a favourite amongst residents, as is The Chesham Arms and The Spread Eagle, London’s first vegan pub.
For green space, Millfields Park and Hackney Marshes are only a few minutes walk from the apartment, whereas Hackney Downs, with its basketball courts, athletics track, and children’s play area, is 15 minutes on foot.
The closest stations are Homerton Overground, offering lines to Stratford and Highbury & Islington, and Clapton, which runs direct services to Liverpool Street in approximately 10 minutes. There are also excellent bus routes to central London.
