A spectacular hilltop medieval village built into rock, surrounded by plains and mountains and on the edge of the Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park. Capestrano is completely self-sufficient with two alimentari, butcher, bank, ATM, doctor, pharmacy, post office, newsagents, DIY, weekly fish and porchetta vans, two bars, a beautician and an award-winning gelateria. There is also an atmospheric weekly market. Within a 10-minute drive are restaurants, a large public swimming pool, B&Bs, laundries, dentists and hospitals etc. 

The area brings a relaxed pace of life but with plenty to see and do - architecture, hidden frescos, wild flowers, church bells, local festivals, a sense of community, walking, canoeing, history and fields of poppies.
