Description
Welcome to Hillside Cottage in Edingley, a much loved and nurtured property for the last 50 years by the same owners. If you are looking for a unique home with a large plot then this could be for you. Whilst it dates back to the 1700's the current owners have done all the work to bring it up to modern day living, but it still retains heaps of character.
I strongly recommend that you look at the video which is the best way to view what is on offer, other than a visit in person of course.
The Cottage offers the following living accommodation. (dimensions in floorplan)
The property is accessible through large wooden gates which keeps it secure and private, and there is ample parking for multiple vehicles on the driveway. Infront of the property are some stone steps surrounded by beautiful flowers welcoming you into the property.
Entrance Hallway:
The hallway is spacious and light and retains the original beams of the property dating back to 1700's, it really is a welcoming space. There is storage cupboard next to the door and another under the stairs so coats and shoes can be stored. The flooring is easy clean laminate and there is a radiator.
Reception room 2:
Through a barn style door off the hallway is a second reception room, added on in the 1900's. This room could be an office, snug, dining or play-room, whatever suits the new owners. There is a large double glazed window to the front of the property with wood surround. The floor is wood and more of the character beams are in the ceiling, there is a large radiator.
Living Room:
Off the other side of the hallway through another character door is the spacious living room, the original part of the cottage dating back to 1700's. There is carpet to floor, painted beams and two radiators. Two small windows and two large ones means this is not your typical dark cottage room, it is light and spacious and neutrally decorated. Wall mounted lights and a log burner complete the cosy warm feel of this spacious room.
Utility/office:
At the rear of the property is an extension that was done in the 1980's meaning this property has the added benefit of a utility or office space. There is a beamed ceiling, fitted blinds in the window and access to outside.
Kitchen:
Through the barn style door is a beautifully appointed kitchen which was added in the 1980's, with cream shaker style units and triple aspect windows making this another light room. There are ample base and wall units with freestanding washing machine behind one the cupboards, a large range gas oven with 5 ring hob and double oven/warming drawer. LPV flooring, two radiators and spot-lights. There is room for a small table for in kitchen dining if you don't want to utilise one of the other spaces.
Off the hallway is a turn point staircase with embedded beams in the walls, leading to the spacious landing upstairs.
Bedroom 1:
At the top of the stairs is a good sized double bedroom with front aspect window (roller blind). neutrally decorated with radiator and loft hatch.
Family/guest shower room:
Enclosed shower, w.c and sink with built in storage and a large mirror.
Master Bedroom suite:
This is a large beautifully appointed room with views over the field to the side. There is a hidden storage cupboard, wall mounted and ceiling lights, carpet to floor.
The ensuite is spacious with separate bath and shower, vinyl flooring, sink, w.c, towel radiator and two windows.
Bedroom 3:
At the front of the property this room is presented as a single with built in wardrobes but is large enough to fit a double bed in. Carpet to floor and window with roller blind.
Bedroom 4:
This is a single room with lovely views over the fields (so would also make a great office). Carpet to floor and radiator.
Outside:
The outside of this cottage really is unique and viewing the video will give perspective of what is on offer. At the front of the property is a large driveway with parking for multiple vehicles as well as a double garage. Behind the garage is the beautiful cottage garden with a lawned area and surrounded by colourful foliage and apple/pear trees. The owners have lovingly made this area a haven for butterflies and bees. At the top of the garden is a workshop with water and power so this could have multiple uses.
Behind the workshop is something quite unique. There is an area for vegetables, shed, green house and more pear and apple trees. You can walk past these and just keep walking and walking, really you get your very own nature trail.
The property has solar panels fitted which generate c 3200 kw per year which for an average household is all the electricity needed (av household is 2700kw), so you can enjoy ‘free’ electricity and income from export back to the grid.
