Castiglioncello Bandini is a charming hamlet in the municipality of Cinigiano, nestled at the foot of the Poggio all’Olmo Nature Reserve. Its origins date back to the medieval period, when it was established as a strategic castle to control the eastern part of the territory.
Originally owned by the powerful Aldobrandeschi family, it came under the rule of local lords in the 13th century, and was later ceded to the Abbey of San Salvatore on Mount Amiata.
Over time, the castle became part of the estate of the noble Sienese family Piccolomini-Bandini, who oversaw various transformations. In particular, the complex was renovated during the 16th century and again between the 19th and early 20th centuries, when it was largely restored in the neo-medieval style.
Today, Castiglioncello Bandini still retains all the charm of its long history with ancient stone buildings, unspoiled landscapes, and noble heritage.
