Get a head for heights on the glass walkway and study the famous Engine Rooms at Tower Bridge. Remember to also keep an eye out for Tower Bridge bridge lift times!
Wander along the Thames, from London Bridge to Tower Bridge, spotting the likes of The Shard, The Gherkin, HMS Belfast, City Hall and the Tower of London along the way
Take to the water from London Bridge City Pier with MBNA Thames Clippers, which allows you to hop on and off its boats with a daily pass. You can see many of London’s icons from the river, including the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament.
Meander along Bermondsey Street, home to trendy coffee shops, restaurants and gastro pubs. Jose serves up Spanish dishes, while intimate French restaurant Casse-Croûte is the perfect place for a romantic meal.
Enjoy stunning views of the London skyline from The Shard’s 32nd floor at Chinese restaurant Hutong, treat yourself to a sophisticated dinner at Oblix, or sip mindblowing cocktails at panoramic Aqua Shard. For beautiful views of Tower Bridge and the Thames, head to Gaucho or Dim T, on More London Riverside.
Transport
London Bridge Railway station underwent a redevelopment a fews years ago and now it is very impressive. There are trains running by South Eastern Trains from Charing Cross and Cannon Street to South East London and Kent. There are also trains run by Thameslink from Cambridge, Peterborough, Bedford & Luton Airport to Brighton, Horsham, Rainham and Gatwick Airport so it is a very busy station!
There are also links to the Tube with the station being served by the Northern Line and Jubilee Line. To get to the main concourse you walk through a lot of arches which have now been adapted to accommodate small shops.
The station has entrances at ground level but as you walk in you can see how high the platforms are above the street with long escalators, staircases and lifts to take you up to get your train. There are a number of retail outlets on the concourse to get snacks, drinks and some medical items. Overall the station is easy to navigate and a handy interchange.
The main line station is one of 19 UK stations managed by Network Rail. It has a ticket hall and entrance area with its main frontage on Tooley Street, and other entrances on Borough High Street and within the main line station concourse. It is one of two mainline London termini south of the River Thames, the other is Waterloo.
The Underground station is on the Jubilee line and the Bank branch of the Northern line. River buses use the nearby London Bridge City Pier.
London Buses routes 17, 21, 35, 43, 47, 133, 141, 149, 343, 344, 381, 388, 521 and night routes N21, N133, N199, N343 and N381 serve the station, some serving London Bridge bus station
