If you are looking for a bang for your buck, then look no further! With 3450 square feet of sprawling, versatile accommodation, this property will undoubtedly appeal to multi-generational families that would like the convenience of having an abundance of amenities on your doorstep. The close proximity to a range of sailing clubs will also appeal to maritime enthusiasts, whilst the nearby train station offers direct access into London Liverpool Street.
What the Owner Says
My husband and I discovered this lovely part of Essex over thirty-five years ago when we visited a friend who moored their boat in the local marina and after a few years we also caught the sailing bug and decided to buy our own boat and make the move ourselves. It has been a wonderful home for us and has allowed four generations of my family to live here in harmony and perfect for entertaining, we have hosted numerous parties of over a hundred people here, including my daughter's wedding reception but the time has now come for a new adventure which means with heavy heart we will pass the baton onto the next family to enjoy.
History & Background
It is believed that the property was originally constructed in 1906 and utilised as the nurses' quarters for the local nursing home and indicative of its era is bursting with an abundance of charm, character and impressive high ceilings.
On the ground floor the sprawling accommodation incorporates characterful reception hall, generous sitting room, dining room, kitchen/ breakfast room, utility room and adjoining spacious conservatory, whilst on the first floor are four generous double bedrooms that are serviced by the family bathroom. The second floor boasts two further double bedrooms and shower room that is ideal for teenage children or alternatively an au pair.
The delightful grounds extend to 0.45 acres (stls) and are exceptionally secluded, mostly laid to lawn with a plethora of mature shrubs and trees and incorporate a generous home office that could potentially be utilised as a self-contained annexe if required (stp).
Setting & Location
The property is situated along the Maldon Road within a short walk into Burnham on Crouch, a charming small maritime town, world famous for being a yachting centre and calmer waters of the Crouch Estuary. There is a livery yard within walking distance for those with equestrian interests, whilst the town offers an envious array of traditional shops with plenty of pubs, tea rooms and restaurants all of which are within walking distance from the property. Burnham on Crouch has its own rail station for London's Liverpool Street. This train journey alone is most scenic travelling through the marshes and alongside the river. The typical journey time is 1 hour 10 minutes and a perfect way to travel for Londoners looking for a weekend escape or holiday let accommodation in Burnham.
Burnham on Crouch also has good educational facilities with a C of E primary school (Ofsted Good), a County Primary School and Burnhams Ormiston Rivers Academy which remains a Good school for senior education. There are also dedicated buses for children attending the Grammar Schools in Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea. There is also a supermarket and doctor's surgery, a historic church and a maritime museum, alongside many activities within the town which further include an annual Burnham week sailing regatta.
