During the post-war period (1915-18), it was 1925, in the midst of a crisis and social upheavals, a group of war invalids joined in a cooperative in order to realize, with the contribution of the State, housing for their families. The complex of two Renaissance-style buildings was constructed in the Prati area near Piazza G. Mazzini and precisely in Via Monte Zebio, one at n. civic 28 of 40 apartments and the other n. 30 of 20 apartments. This is a large monumental complex of merit, with friezes and emblems that characterize the era. Equipped with large spaces in the entrance halls, interior courtyards with pools and ornamental plants. For its history, the style of construction and those who lived there, was requested at the time, which was declared by the Ministry for Architectural and Cultural Heritage, of historical, artistic and cultural importance. They have been members of the cooperative and have lived there, even characters that have become famous: Igino Giordani, constitutional deputy, journalist and writer; the general Umberto Nobile, who lived there from the 50s until his death, explorer, transporter of the poles, constituent deputy; the De Carolis family whose son Ugo, Colonnello dei Carabinieri, was killed at Fosse Ardeatine and many others less known.
