LOCATION
Soar Mill Cove is unquestionably one of the prettiest and most unspoiled stretches of coastline in the area, and West Soar Barn occupies the most incredible location. Surrounded by National Trust countryside, the valley hugs the rugged coastline and sweeps down to the sandy beach, which is only about 600 yards from the house. This hidden treasure trove is the epitome of escapism, yet despite the surroundings, the convenience of having the boutique, family owned, Soar Mill Cove Hotel and Spa as your neighbour, ensures rural life does not always have to be remote; the hotel offers a superb spa, restaurant, bar and al fresco terrace. The beach at Soar Mill Cove is an idyllic sandy cove, accessible only on foot or by boat, and the south-west coast path weaves its way from Salcombe and Bolt Head through Soar Mill Cove to Bolberry Down and Hope Cove. The nearby village of Malborough offers a good range of local amenities including a primary school, 2 pubs, a post office and a filling station with a small supermarket. The chic and popular coastal town of Salcombe offers a vibrant town centre bursting with independent shops, boutiques, cafés, restaurants and pubs, and is about 4 miles. The larger town of Kingsbridge is about 4 miles and sits at the head of the Salcombe and Kingsbridge Estuary. The market town offers a great range of shops and facilities including a cinema, health centre and small hospital, leisure centre with indoor pool, and the secondary school, Kingsbridge Academy. The mainline rail station at Totnes (18 miles) links London in about 2 hrs 40 mins.

THE PROPERTY
West Soar Barn originally dates from the late 1800s, but it is now a contemporary, light and spacious detached house, which has been beautifully designed to ensure the setting, and the view is always the focus.

The house has been fully refurbished throughout, with superb attention to detail visible at every turn. The ground floor comprises a wonderful and welcoming entrance hall with utility / boot room, cloakroom and walk in pantry. The remainder of the ground floor is dedicated to the bedrooms; all four being en suite. The main bedroom has the benefit of two dressing rooms and a well-appointed bathroom with roll top bath and walk-in, rain-head shower.

Doors open from three of the bedrooms to a stunning centrepiece courtyard, which is home to the outdoor swimming pool with wrap around terrace.

Stairs rise to an impressive open plan and part vaulted reception room comprising living room, dining room and kitchen.

The kitchen is beautifully crafted with a good range of units complimented with granite work tops. Integral appliances include an oven, microwave and hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. This beautiful space is perfect for relaxing and entertaining, with a Rais woodburning stove for cosy nights in, and two al fresco dining balconies, both offering glorious views and spectacular sunsets.

OUTSIDE
It’s all about the outside at West Soar Barn. The glorious views are visible at nearly every turn, and the gardens are bathed in sunshine until the sun dips below the horizon; a sunset at Soar Mill Cove is a coastal spectacle. There are numerous terraces and balconies, a large lawned garden with a handful of mature trees, and a kitchen garden. There is a double garage, and parking for several cars, and in addition is a stone built summer house which makes a perfect artist’s studio. The drive has electronically operated gates and is shared with West Soar House.

DIRECTIONS (TQ7 3DS)
From Kingsbridge take the A381 towards Salcombe. As you enter the village of Malborough, take the first right into Higher Town, signposted Village Centre. Follow the road round keeping the church on your right and continue for approximately 1.5 miles. Passing Salcombe Retreat on your right, the road bends to the right and proceed through the entrance of the hotel signposted “Soar Mill Cove Hotel”. Continue down past the hotel drive and proceed past the children’s playground and take the right turn uphill, signed West Soar. Proceed through the gates and West Soar Barn can be found a short distance on your left.
