Dartmoor View Lodges at South Trew Stables comprises 3 authentic timber lodges - Bluebells, Buttercups and Brambles - which are let out primarily as holiday accommodation throughout the year. We are currently offering 2 of the lodges as a winter let which will be available to rent from 15th September 2025 up to the end of March 2026.
The rent is all inclusive except for electricity and logs for the log burner, however, there would be an additional monthly charge of £150 as a contribution towards bills.
This covers water/sewerage, WiFi, TV, council tax.
The advertised price is for a let of just over 6 months and we would be looking for someone who is fully committed to this term, this means a financial commitment to the full term even if circumstances mean you may wish to move out before then.
The lodge would ideally suit people who have sold up and are moving to the area, it's a great central base for exploring Devon and Cornwall. Our preference is no young children and Bluebells is a pet-free lodge.

Our lodges are constructed from 8 inch pine logs and are exceptionally warm and welcoming. We offer clean, comfortable accommodation that has views which are absolutely fantastic - right across miles of beautiful Devon countryside to Dartmoor in the distance. South facing with undercover patio. There is access to a washing machine and tumble drier in a separate laundry room for which a small additional charge would be payable. There is ample parking and the lodge is accessed via a driveway which is separate to the owners.
Superfast Wi-Fi which is supplied via hard connection to the house hub and water/sewerage charges are provided, as is the TV. Electricity is supplied by way of a pre-payment meter, there are electric panel heaters in each room and there's a log/coal burner in the lounge for which the tenant would need to supply fuel.
The kitchen is fully equipped including a large fridge/freezer, microwave and oven/hob and there's a large smart TV in the lounge.
There is one double bedroom and a second bedroom containing 2 single beds. Tenants would provide their own bedding and soft furnishings.
The property is located in Highampton which is 4 miles from Hatherleigh with the bustling town of Okehampton a further 7 miles away. In the opposite direction 9 miles away lies Holsworthy with the beautiful beaches of Bude a further 9 miles away. Hatherleigh itself is a pretty village with small shops and cafes, pub and a Co-op supermarket. Okehampton and Holsworthy are larger market towns with all the amenities and facilities you would expect including Waitrose, Co-op and Lidl supermarkets.
Okehampton provides access onto the A30 with Exeter and the M5 being a further 20 minutes away.
No smokers and please be aware that Bluebells is pet-free. Brambles is pet-friendly but our preference for this let is for no pets.
We also don't think the winter let is really suitable for children so singles/couples only please.
The following photos feature all three lodges so the furnishings in the lodge/s to be let may differ.
Viewings are possible during August but have to be timed to take place in between holiday-makers coming and going. Saturdays are therefore the ideal day to view as that is our changeover day for most of the time although we may consider weekdays if circumstances allow.
If a let is agreed, we would require the equivalent of 5 weeks rent to be lodged as deposit with the Deposit Protection Scheme - and 2 months rent/bills contribution in advance unless you wish to pay the whole rental amount up-front.
We do like to meet prospective tenants but realise this is not always possible, in that case we would require 3 months rent/bills contribution in advance.
