Description
DESCRIPTION
South House is a charming grade II listed family home in the north western part of Fittleworth, adjacent to St Marys Church. This spacious attached house forms the southern part of a building that was originally the Rectory and which was divided into 2 properties a number of years ago. The main part of the house has Victorian origins and includes high ceilings, large windows and some lovely period features. The well presented accommodation is mainly facing south overlooking the garden and has been well maintained and improved by the current owners over the last 20 years. The front door opens into a large entrance hall with the original staircase and a cloakroom. The lovely south facing drawing room overlooks the garden and with a period fireplace and surround at one end incorporating an open fire. The dining/family room includes an original fireplace (not in use) and has a door leading into the garden room, a bright south facing room with French doors opening into the garden. The kitchen/breakfast room is a lovely south facing room, with direct access onto the garden. To one end is a fireplace fitted with a woodburning stove and at the far end is a range of fitted units with work surfaces and a large gas fired/electric cooking range.
From the entrance hall the lovely staircase rises to the first floor landing with storage and an airing cupboard housing the gas boiler and hot water tank. The main bedroom is a lovely south facing room overlooking the garden, and includes extensive wardrobes and an en suite bathroom with a bath and shower. Bedroom 2 is also a very good size and has an en suite shower room. There are 3 further double bedrooms, all overlooking the garden, and a family shower room.
Outside, the house includes a delightful south facing garden, with a large, paved terrace adjacent to the house, with a further terrace to one side and a side gate. The garden includes areas of lawn, plants beds and a variety of mature shrubs and also some large mature trees, a wild area of garden, with a greenhouse to one side, vegetable garden and a large wooden garden shed. The property is approached over a shared gravel entrance drive which leads to a parking space and also to two bays of an open bay garage. A path leads past The Old Rectory and Church End to South House.
