Villa Borghese in Torquay was initially built in the 1830s for the Capel-Cure family as a temporary residence while their home in Shropshire, Badger Hall, was being completed. It was designed in the Italianate style to house their collection of art and sculptures acquired during their "Grand Tour of Italy". The villa, located in Ridgeway Road, also hosted Prince Oldenburg of Russia in 1850.
It was the first Italianate house to be built in Torquay.
