Description
This former Victorian schoolhouse was completely converted, renovated and transformed into four unique homes some 11 years ago by a bespoke, independent developer.
Luckley Cottage is one of them, accessed through some beautiful, automated iron gates leading to the courtyard style parking area and the three further homes.
Continue through to a private corner of the development to find the eye catching, original double doors that enter this beautiful property.
Currently tenanted, you can see the features and how lovely it is, although it is slightly overfilled so don’t judge anything until you get there and truly ‘feel’ the place.
With a stylish, coordinated colour scheme throughout, it could be a cool, interesting and lovely place to call home.
Walk through the arched entrance doors and into a windowed entrance lobby – feel the warmth of the underfloor heating, spreading throughout the ground floor.
Through another set of internal glass doors, the lobby opens into a spacious hall with high ceiling and impressive dog leg staircase.
Doors lead to the kitchen/dining area to one side, and to a large, versatile living area the other side.
Also leading from the hall there is a WC and a large, fitted wardrobe with hanging for coats and plenty of room for incidentals, and a massive under stair storage area.
The whole of the ground floor, including in the cupboards, is tiled and there are downlighters fitted throughout.
Starting with the kitchen: well fitted, integrated appliances with floor to ceiling cupboards, a central island housing an induction hob surrounded by granite worktops – plenty of space for preparation, and a view of the gardens. A wine fridge, a boiling tap and a water softener.
A big space for dining with a fitted, integrated television on the wall – and much more to discover.
The dual aspect living room is a great space, and large at approximately 19ft by 15ft, so gives great options to furnish, although you’d probably want to arrange things around the much-loved log burner … who doesn’t love a log burner?
This ground floor is a great example of less rooms but bigger rooms with a great entrance, and it really works.
Now we have the impressive staircase taking you to the vaulted first floor, yes vaulted and it’s stunning.
The exposed beams run throughout, along with two tier windows and Velux windows that emphasise this incredible height even more. The pictures really don’t do this justice.
The master suite is just what you would want, large, square in shape and vaulted with a walk-in wardrobe, which then leads through to a generous vaulted ensuite with window.
Bedrooms two and three are then equal sizes and could easily become work areas or guest rooms depending on how your life works. These rooms are served by the family bathroom. Both bathrooms are of extremely high quality and finish – with wet room style walk in showers and an insulated bath.
Moving outside we have a private garden, not always the case in these types of town centre developments so you are spoilt a bit here and it’s a huge plus. Grassed with paved hard standing areas it works but you could really make more of this feature if gardens are your thing, and with the summers we are now having I’d suggest some real entertaining and chillout space here.
There is a garden gate leading onto the main road at the front of the property –10 minutes from Waitrose and five minutes to the station. There are two private parking spaces adjacent to the garden and three other jointly owned visitors’ spaces
So, all in all, we have a pretty damn impressive period conversion with some great features, slap bang in town with secure parking and gardens … form an orderly queue please!
