Description

An enchanting thatched cottage full of character and charm, in a peaceful countryside setting, just 0.5 miles from Eccleshall high street.

Description

Thatched Cottage started life as two farm workers cottages, dating back to the 17th century, of a timber frame construction under a traditional thatch. In 1982 the house was significantly extended to create elegant living space which blends with the charm and character of the original cottage.

The current owners have beautifully maintained the house which underwent a re-thatch in 2013. The house has many characterful features including exposed beams, oak floorboards in some rooms and original fireplaces. The house also boasts plenty of storage with quaint, fitted cupboards and storage throughout the house.

The front door opens into a spacious hall where there is access to the sitting room which has French doors leading outside. Further into the hallway there is access to the snug which overlooks and has a door leading to the rear garden, along with an electric wood affect log burning stove.
The kitchen has fitted wall and base units, a door leading outside, two integrated dishwashers, a Rangemaster electric oven and an adjoining breakfast room, which has an original inglenook fireplace and enjoys views over the south facing garden. The separate dining room also has a door leading outside onto the gardens, and a built in china cupboard. The ground floor also has a modern fitted shower room with a vanity sink and WC.

The first floor offers in plenty of natural light and provides access to the principal bedroom which is double aspect and has beautiful views over the gardens. There are a further three double bedrooms, with bedroom four currently being used as an office and is fitted with built in wardrobes.

Outside

Thatched Cottage is approached through a five bar, electric gate onto a spacious parking area which parks between 5 and 7 vehicles. There is a separate double garage, with further parking down the side.

The gardens are mostly laid to lawn which wraps around the main house offering plenty of space for a wonderful lifestyle. Steps lead down to a seating area where you can enjoy al fresco dining.

Raised vegetable beds, a walnut tree and grape vine are all part of this stunning garden which emulates everything about the term an 'English country garden'.

A boundary hedge offers a secret area, which houses a garden shed and a wildlife strip, including bluebells and an apple tree. Additionally, there is a path to a pedestrian gate, leading onto Kerry Lane.
