Description

The Old Baptist Church is a perfect renovation opportunity, steeped in history and with breathtaking sea views and a superb view towards the old and new Keiss Castle. The church has a drystone dyke surrounding it and sits in approximately half an acre of grounds. Steps from roadside lead up to the garden grounds of the hall. There are two impressive pillars to each side of the main door.
The building is on the NC 500 route and is on the main road to John O'Groats, which is a popular tourist attraction, approximately 8 miles away so the property offers commercial potential for visitor accommodation and other services.
The Church is on the main Wick to John O'Groats bus route and, on request, the bus will stop directly outside the Church.

The Keiss Baptist Church was the first Baptist Church in Scotland, it was founded in 1750. The Church building was constructed in 1854 and was first served by a minister from Wick.
Before the Church was built the group of Baptists met in a turf-built house in 1763 it was located 14ft away from the Church building. A small Chapel was built in 1840, this made way for the present structure which stands on the outskirts of Keiss village.

Keiss is situated just a short drive from The Royal Burgh of Wick which is the most northerly town on the East Coast of Caithness and is on the very popular North Coast 500 (NC500) tourist route. The town offers multiple stores such as Tesco, Boots, Superdrug, Argos, and B&M, as well as banks and a post office.
