Offers are invited in the region of £750,000

Accommodation
Ashcroft was built in a neo-Georgian style, featuring an attractive symmetrical facade and a centrally positioned front door set within a decorative portico, which leads into a welcoming entrance hall.

There is a reception room on either side of the hall. To the left is the study, and on the right, the large triple-aspect sitting room. The focal point of the sitting room is the fireplace with its ornate marble surround, and further character is added by the decorative cornicing, an arched recessed niche with shelving, and pine floorboards. French doors lead from the sitting room to the rear garden. The study adjoins a ground-floor shower room, which could make it ideal for use as a fifth bedroom for a less mobile relative or guests.

At the back of the property, a further reception area, which could be an ideal breakfast room or reading area, steps down to the impressive kitchen/dining room. The kitchen enjoys an excellent range of fitted units with appliances including a dishwasher, mid-level oven, gas-fired Aga and extractor above. There is a space for a large American-style fridge freezer, too. In the heart of the room, there is ample room for a dining table, making this a sociable, family-oriented room. A side door leads to the garden. Nearby, there is a utility room with plumbing for white goods.

On the first floor, there are four spacious double bedrooms, each with an individual style. The family bathroom enjoys a bath with an overhead shower, a vanity unit with cabinetry, a basin and a toilet, and a heated towel rail.

Outside
The house is set well back from the road, with a driveway rising to the large paved parking area in front of the house, which is surrounded by deep well well-stocked borders. On the right-hand side of the house, the driveway continues to a detached garage, which is adorned by a mature wisteria. The garage has an up-and-over door and a pedestrian side door.

At the back of the house, there is an expansive garden with a lawn in the middle, and deep flower borders around the perimeter. The garden enjoys excellent privacy and several specimen trees, including apple, silver birch, and greengage. There is a rear vehicle access with gates leading out to Strode Road and an additional parking space within. By the gates, there is a studio which is fully insulated, with a loft room for useful storage. The studio has patio doors, wooden floorboards, a wood burner and electricity, making this an ideal workshop or potential annexe.

About the area
Street is a large village and civil parish in the county of Somerset, having a population of about 11,800 and situated just 2 miles south west of Glastonbury. Most of its history is dominated by that of Glastonbury, and for many years it housed the corporate headquarters and factories of 'Clarks' shoes; these days the head office is still there, along with its very popular museum and the nationally famous Clarks Village – home to over two hundred discounted retail outlets. Street has an excellent variety of restaurants with a choice of cuisines including Chinese, Indian, Italian, Thai and more.

There is a wide range of clubs and societies (cultural and sporting) and excellent state & independent schools in the area, including primary schools, Millfield, Glastonbury, Wells Blue School, Wells Cathedral School. Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Yeovil are all within commuting distance.

Further amenities include a doctor's surgery, dentists, hairdressers, leisure facilities and a very popular theatre/cinema, to name a few. Castle Cary is the nearest train station with fast links to London.
