Description
Stone elements and traditional finishes are preserved, offering the chance to create a retreat full of character in a timeless environment.
The main floor features a living room, two bedrooms, and a bathroom. One bedroom stands out with open views over the village and landscape. The lower floor includes a third bedroom, second bathroom, kitchen, and a spacious room with a historic fireplace. This level also gives direct garden access.
The private garden is inviting, with a barbecue area and support room - ideal for leisure or gatherings. Every corner reflects potential, balancing outdoor enjoyment with the charm of Óbidos.
More than a house, this is an opportunity to live by the walls of a medieval village recognized by UNESCO - where heritage blends with everyday comfort.
Porta da Senhora da Graça
This gate provides access from the east side and contains a chapel-oratory dedicated to Our Lady of Grace. Tradition says a niche once held an image offered after the 1246 siege between King Sancho II and King Afonso III. The chapel was renovated in 1727 by Bernardo de Palma, a magistrate in India, fulfilling a promise made for his daughter, who died of unrequited love for a young man from Óbidos. The tower became a temple, with chapel, altarpiece, choir, gallery, and sacristy, the nave serving as the passage through its interior.
Once the main entrance to Óbidos, the gate lost this role after Rua Direita was created and the walls extended by King Fernando.
Óbidos is one of Portugal's most picturesque towns, located in the Oeste region, just an hour from Lisbon. Known as the "Town of Queens" since the 13th century, when it was traditionally gifted to the queens of Portugal, Óbidos has preserved its authentic medieval character and charm.
Surrounded by imposing walls, the historic center invites you to wander along cobbled streets, admire whitewashed houses adorned with flowers, and take in stunning views from the ramparts. At its heart stands the iconic Óbidos Castle, a symbol of the village's rich history and royal past.
Beyond its architectural beauty, Óbidos offers a calm and welcoming atmosphere, where daily life blends tradition with authenticity. Its proximity to the Atlantic coast and Lisbon adds to its appeal, making it not only a cultural treasure but also a unique and convenient place to live, where history and modern life coexist in harmony.
