Description
This fantastic plot of around 2,500 m² is home to a house in ruins, whose stone walls are still recoverable. The 205 m² house, which was built in 1920 in an L-shape (one part is now collapsed), had four bedrooms and two large stables, which could now be converted into a spacious living room with beautiful views of the valley. Combining the old stone with modern touches such as larger windows or a light-colored interior and even a fireplace where you can read a book or spend time with friends around the fire on winter nights, creating special moments that you will remember all your life, is one of the many options to make you feel at home.
Adjacent to the house is a stone granary, called a “horreo” in Galician, the local language. It is connected to the first floor of the house by a small stone corridor and invites you to create a special room or even replace one of the walls with a large window, add some comfortable armchairs and create a corner where you can enjoy your afternoon tea with a stunning view.
As the house and granary need to be rebuilt, there are many possibilities. We can put you in contact with an architect we know that specializes in restoring this type of ruins and will turn your house into a home where you will not only want to spend cool summers away from the overwhelming heat of the big cities, but also the other seasons that will reconnect you with nature without having to prescind of the comfort we have all become accustomed to.
There is a spring that provides the house with fresh drinking-water and adjacent to the house there is also a well, where the women of the village used to wash their clothes. It has been restored and is in good condition. Electricity is easy to install, although due to the sunny location, it would be a good idea to consider installing solar panels.
Access is easy and there is parking for 2-3 cars right at the entrance to the property without having to do any extra work. The street leading to the house is paved and in 2 minutes leads to the main road to Cedeira, a quaint town 12 minutes away with several supermarkets, banks, schools (nursery, primary and secondary), a health center that remains open 24/7, as well as countless bars and restaurants. Not to mention the beautiful park for the little ones and the Magdalena beach, which is easily accessible and very safe.
Ten minutes away are Villarube beach and Pantín beach, famous for hosting the Pantin Classic, where one leg of the world surfing championship is being held each August.
In five minutes, you reach Porto do Cabo, where there is not only a bar selling essentials, but also a couple of restaurants worth exploring.
On the other hand, the road takes you to Ferrol in 25 minutes, an old shipbuilding and marina city with an old town full of impressive Art Deco-facades. The airport in A Coruña is just an hour away and you reach Santiago de Compostela with its international airport in around 1,5 hrs.
If you have always wanted to own a house in the countryside within a Biosphere Reserve with many beaches within reach and endless hiking trails, where you can still breathe fresh air and wake up to the sound of birds, this is your opportunity to buy a plot of land for a low price and build the house you've always dreamt of.
