Location

King Edwards Gardens is located in a very popular and aesthetically attractive part of W3 and is convenient for Ealing Common Underground station with District and Piccadilly Line services direct to central London and Heathrow Airport with one change at Acton Town. The Twyford Church of England High School is very close by and there is a good selection of local shops along the Uxbridge Road in both directions towards Ealing Common or Acton. Ealing Common, one of London's original open spaces, is a great spot for summer picnics and regularly holds funfairs and other activities. For shopping, Ealing Broadway is the main retail area in the vicinity where a lot of mainstream high street retailers, plus a good diversity of local shops can be found. Ealing Broadway Station handles District and Central line underground services, Mainline Great first Western service to London Paddington and other destinations to the west, and the Heathrow Connect. In 2018, Crossrail services are expected to start from Ealing Broadway and Acton Mainline; dramatically reducing commuting times to London and bringing other areas such as the docklands in to easier and quicker reach.

Ealing Common ticks all the boxes for families who are searching for the advantages of London living with countryside charm - solid, detached Victorian and Edwardian houses with generous size gardens, excellent transport links, a wide choice of schools, excellent parks and bistros overlooking Ealing Green and historic Pitshanger Manor for an evening out.

Ealing is a district in west London, located in the London Borough of Ealing. It is situated located 7.9 miles (12.7 km) west of Charing Cross and circa 12 miles (19.3 km) from the City of London. The area is sometimes referred to as the "Queen of the Suburbs". It is twinned with Marcq-en-Baroeul in France, and Kreis Steinfurt in Germany. Historically, it was a rural village in the county of Middlesex and formed an ancient parish. The most important changes to Ealing occurred in the 19th century. The building of the Great Western Railway in the 1830s, part of which passed through the centre of Ealing, led to the opening of a railway station on the Broadway in 1879, originally called Haven Green. As part of the growth of London in the 20th century, Ealing significantly expanded and increased in population, becoming a municipal borough in 1901 and has formed part of Greater London since 1965.

Ealing is possibly most famous for being home to Ealing Studios. It is the oldest continuously working film studio in the world. The Ealing Comedies of the 1950s are considered a high point of British cinema. Ealing Studios has since accommodated high profile films including Notting Hill, Star Wars – Episode 2, Sean Of The Dead and Bridget Jones 2.

It was during the Victorian period that Ealing became a town. This meant that roads had to be built, drainage provided, and schools and public buildings erected. The man responsible for much of all this was Charles Jones, Borough Surveyor; he planted the horse chestnut trees on Ealing Common and designed the Town Hall, both the present one and the older structure which is now a bank (on the Mall). There are 1,900 acres of green spaces in the Borough of Ealing with more than 100 parks and open spaces. In particular Ealing’s finest open green spaces are Ealing Common, Warpole, Lammas and Gunnersbury Park.

Ealing Common provides wide open green spaces, often hosting the popular travelling fairs and circuses. Walpole Park, behind Sir John Soane’s house at Pitshanger Manor, plays host to many summer events in including an annual jazz festival and various other musical events and entertainment. There are several other large parks including Gunnersbury Park, ideal for long walks, and the setting for many summer sporting tournaments. Lammas Park features enchanting gardens and is ideal for a picnic. Ealing can offer the choice of two golf courses, Ealing Golf Course and Hanger Hill Golf Course. Annual festivals are held on the parks including fireworks evenings, Comedy in the Park, Opera in the Park, Ealing Blues, the Global Festival, the Beer Festival and Ealing Jazz Festivals

Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones famously first met Brian Jones in 1962 at the Ealing Jazz Club, opposite Ealing Broadway station. Other artists who performed at the club include Rod Stewart and Manfred Mann. The Jazz Club is now a nightclub called The Red Room. The Who also met their drummer Keith Moon at the railway pub in Greenford.

Ealing Broadway is a large indoor shopping centre offering a wide variety of high street stores, boutiques and a supermarket situated in the centre of the area with other excellent boutiques and shops located off Ealing Green and Haven Green.
