We moved into Maybank back in 2017 when we were expecting our first child, and it’s been the setting for the most important chapter of our lives so far. Now, with three little ones and a heart full of memories, we’re getting ready to pass it on to the next family.

This has been our first home, and we’ve poured so much love into it — from hand-painting murals in the children’s bedrooms to transforming the bare garden into a space that has grown and bloomed alongside our family. There’s now a quiet spot to sit in the morning sun, another to catch the last light of the evening, and still plenty of space for the children to run wild among the roses, wisteria and trees we’ve planted.

Inside, we’ve loved the open, flowing layout but also the ability to close off quieter zones when needed. Having two ensuite bedrooms (ours and the guest room) has been a real treat when family comes to stay. The integrated garage has been brilliant as a pantry and extra storage space too.

Some of our happiest moments have been the simple ones: the kids dancing in the living room while we make dinner, friends and family gathering for homemade pizza, splashing in the pool, and laughter in the garden. The front doorstep has seen first-day-of-school photos and muddy boots from woodland adventures.

We feel incredibly lucky to have been part of such a special community here — from the annual Maybank BBQ on the May bank holiday to the famous Christmas lights that draw visitors from all over. The children play out together, the grown-ups swap advice or stop for a chat… and if you ever need anything, Eddie pretty much always has something in his garage!

It’s easy here too with Lidl and Co-op close by and being in catchment for both Shinfield Infants and Alder Grove schools, just a few minutes’ walk away. There are lovely dog walks at Langley Mead and the Coombes Woodlands (or the “fairy forest” as we call it), plus playing fields and several parks on the doorstep. The community centre just around the corner has been a real lifeline too — for baby classes, gymnastics, coffee and ice cream.

Maybank has given us the most beautiful foundation as a family. We can’t wait to see someone else fall in love with it the way we have.
