Description
THE PROPERTY
Tucked away on one of Bridport's most sought-after roads and in a fantastic elevated position, Dove House is arguably one of Bridport's finest houses. Cleverly built by the present owners 12 years ago taking full advantage of the fantastic south facing plot, with a huge amount of thought and attention to detail, first glimpses of this wonderful property are most impressive with its very attractive white façade under a pitched slate roof.
This architect designed five bedroomed house has never been released for sale. Approached by a private drive with no passing traffic, the property is accessed via a large sliding electric gate. The driveway has parking for several cars with stunning landscaped gardens planted to palm and olive trees, and features such as a pond, raised beds, garden sheds, compost areas and a hot tub with outdoor shower. This is a true utopia for children and animals. The far reaching views are stunning towards the Jurassic Coast, and Allington Hill. The property is within a few minutes' walk of the town centre, and there are many other walks within half an hour, including to West Bay beaches and Symondsbury via a gate in the garden that leads onto Allington Hill.
On first entering the property there is a real sense of charm, space and light, with a large covered porch and generous reception hall leading to a very good sized snug room/study with views over the delightful gardens. The real surprise however is the most fabulous open plan living space, incorporating kitchen, dining and sitting areas, which is quite simply 'as good as it gets' and is a very sociable space in which to entertain family and friends. The kitchen area at one end incorporates a number of bespoke wall and base units and a fantastic wooden breakfast bar and separate utility room. There are bifold doors opening out to the decked terrace, ideal for a morning cup of coffee, with another terrace ideal for al fresco dining. The sitting area is at the other end of the room, with plenty of room for two large sofas, and a central woodburning stove.
Beyond the kitchen area is a family room, which would also make a very good TV/snug room, or gym. There is underfloor heating throughout the entire ground floor.
The principal bedrooms are situated on the first floor with three beautiful bedrooms including a fantastic master bedroom suite with an adjoining dressing room and shower room. The bedrooms all have wonderful views over the gardens and beyond. There is also a family bathroom on this floor.
On the second floor are two further bedrooms, ideal for children or guests, one of these bedrooms is currently used as a games room such is the flexibility of this fantastic house.
All in all, this is a truly superb property in an idyllic yet very convenient location.
