Description
THE OWNER QUOTE
From the moment we first saw the property, we knew it had something special. What initially drew us in was the close proximity to excellent schools and easy motorway access. But walking up the driveway, it quickly became clear that this home offered much more: ample off-road parking, privacy from the road, and a welcoming sense of space.
One of the features we loved straight away was that the house is fully detached, with side access leading to a generous entertaining patio and a wide, enclosed garden. The lawn has always been a wonderful setting for summer parties, children’s play, or simply relaxing outdoors. At the rear sits a garden office, fully equipped with everything needed for home working — far enough from the house to avoid distractions, yet close enough to remain part of family life. We also enjoyed tending the vegetable allotment, which has provided us with apples, pears, strawberries, and seasonal produce, ready to be revived with just a little care.
Stepping inside, the spacious entrance hall made an immediate impression. With room for coats, shoes, and the bustle of family life, it kept the rest of the home free from clutter. The layout was another highlight: with the kitchen and breakfast area at one end, and the large living–dining space at the other, the design created both a sense of togetherness and the option for separate zones when needed.
The kitchen breakfast area comfortably seats eight, making it the heart of our mornings before school and work, and a social hub for friends at weekends. The living–dining room, slightly offset for definition, became our favourite gathering place — perfect for Christmases, birthdays, and celebrations. In summer, two sets of double French doors open onto the expansive patio, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor living. With this space combined, you have close to 100 sq. metres of entertaining area, while the log burner provides warmth and atmosphere in the winter.
Downstairs also offers two double rooms, which we used flexibly as playrooms, games rooms, and guest bedrooms. Our son particularly appreciated having his room on this floor as had his own shower room close by, giving him independence as he grew. The downstairs shower WC was also great so not to have to go upstairs each time or when guests were visiting. The hard wood flooring throughout the downstairs also proved to be better than carpets with the kids in and out and our family dog that we had at the time.
Upstairs, the landing area surprised us with its versatility and storage. We even created a study space for our daughter here, keeping her bedroom calm and uncluttered. High ceilings throughout the upstairs give the home a light and airy feel. Our daughter loved hers so much she even had a hanging chair installed.
The master bedroom is a true retreat, with double French doors opening onto a Juliet balcony overlooking the garden — an idyllic spot to enjoy a Sunday morning listening to birdsong and taking in the view. The family bathroom is equally impressive, with twin basins, and plenty of space for busy mornings or relaxed evenings.
Carpets throughout the bedrooms and landing gave the comfort feel at night times.
The property itself has a unique architectural charm. Inspired by Nordic design, it features high ceilings, a steeply pitched roof designed for snowfall, and Velux windows that bring in natural light and fresh air. Its heritage adds to the character too: this was one of the original homes built when the area was farmland and cherry orchards, which explains the generous garden and frontage. To this day, the garden still produces cherries, apples, and pears — a wonderful reminder of the land’s history.
