Description

Norwood is a charming 1930s detached bungalow, quietly tucked away in an elevated position with breathtaking views across Lamlash Bay, Holy Isle, and the surrounding woodland. Just a short stroll from the heart of Lamlash village, this characterful home enjoys a peaceful setting while offering exceptional convenience, with local amenities and the scenic Lamlash Golf Club only minutes away.

Well maintained and presented in good order throughout, Norwood also offers exciting potential for further extension or development (subject to the necessary consents). This delightful bungalow combines period charm with a versatile layout and benefits from a unique usable loft space featuring a stunning Velux balcony window—perfect for enjoying the ever-changing seascape all year round.

Accommodation

A traditional entrance vestibule opens into a welcoming hallway from which the accommodation flows naturally. Stripped wooden floors feature throughout much of the ground level, adding warmth and character.

The heart of the home is the spacious family/dining room, with a striking feature fireplace and a spiral staircase leading to the bright and open loft space above. This upper level is currently arranged as a lounge and dining area and is flooded with natural light from four Velux windows, including an impressive balcony roof window framing panoramic views across Holy Isle—an ideal spot to relax or entertain in all seasons. Exposed brickwork and stylish feature radiators further enhance the character of this space.

One of the bedrooms, positioned to the front of the property, enjoys dual-aspect windows offering sweeping views towards the sea and Holy Isle. The other bedroom, a comfortable double with fitted wardrobes, is currently used as a guest room and also enjoys views over the bay. Bedroom three, with its charming fireplace and peaceful woodland outlook, is currently utilised as a bright and inspiring home office.

The well-appointed kitchen includes an integrated oven, hob, and extractor, with space for a freestanding fridge/freezer and washing machine. Feature lighting and a built-in clothes dryer add practical touches to this functional space.

A family bathroom, with electric shower over the bath, completes the ground floor accommodation.

Heating is provided via oil-fired central heating (with the boiler located externally), and the property is double-glazed throughout.

Gardens & Parking

Norwood sits within mature, well-stocked gardens to the front and side, with vibrant planting and generous lawned areas that take full advantage of the elevated setting. The outlook over Lamlash Bay and Holy Isle from the garden is simply magnificent.

A shared driveway leads to private parking at the rear, with space for one to two vehicles.

Area

This delightful bungalow is situated in an elevated location, in the relaxed, coastal village of Lamlash, which lies on the eastern aspect of the Isle of Arran, a popular island off the west coast of Scotland. The village of Lamlash has two hotels (The Glenisle & Lamlash Bay Hotel), two pubs (The Pierhead Tavern (PHT) & The Drift Inn), a newsagent, a chemist, medical centre, the only hospital on the island and the Co-op.

Brodick, Arran's main town, has two larger Co-Op supermarkets and a full range of professional services. Brodick is the port from which regular sailings throughout the day, serviced by Caledonian MacBrayne, lead to the mainland at Ardrossan/Troon. Commuters and travellers now benefit from Road Equivalent Tariff (RET) ferry fares, which are substantially lower than before. Ardrossan and Troon both have a main line rail station, with trains to Glasgow that connect with the ferry times and is approximately 30 miles from Glasgow City Centre. Prestwick International Airport is 16 miles to the south of Ardrossan, with Glasgow International Airport 24 miles east of Ardrossan.

The Primary school, nursery and the only High School and Gym Campus are situated within the village and further Primary schooling is available in Corrie, Brodick and Whiting Bay. A frequent bus service runs around and across the island and, at Lochranza, there is the ferry terminus that allows quick access to the stunning West of Scotland via Claonaig. Kintyre here we come!
