Description
This substantial four-bedroom family home in Elburton offers an impressive blend of space, character, and flexibility, perfectly suited to modern family living. Arranged over three floors, it sits on a generous plot with far-reaching views from the rear and boasts a large double-storey, double garage. One of the garages previously held planning permission for conversion, creating the opportunity for further accommodation, a home office, or even a studio (subject to consents). With a driveway providing parking for up to six vehicles, this home combines practicality with potential.
On the ground floor a welcoming entrance vestibule into the expansive hall which then leads to a large lounge with French doors opening onto a balcony and attractive outlook. The second reception room is currently used as a bedroom but offers genuine flexibility — it would make an excellent dedicated home office, second reception room or guest bedroom and importantly benefits from an adjoining shower room, providing convenient ground-floor facilities for visitors or a home worker.
The lower-ground floor is the heart of the home, offering a superb open-plan kitchen/dining space finished with granite worktops and quality fitted units. This level also includes a useful walk-in pantry for storage and a modern shower room, as well as French doors that open directly into the private rear garden — perfect for effortless indoor-outdoor living.
Upstairs the first floor accommodates four well-proportioned bedrooms and a family bathroom. Original 1930s features remain throughout the house, adding character and warmth to the accommodation while contemporary upgrades ensure comfortable day-to-day living.
Positioned within one of Elburton’s most desirable areas, the home is close to excellent schools and amenities, while also being within easy reach of Dartmoor National Park, the South Hams coastline, and Plymouth city centre. A truly spacious family home with flexibility and scope to grow.
Owner's Comment
"We bought this house because of the size of the rooms – it’s a lovely big family home in a really nice area. The garden is a great space for the whole family, and the neighbours have been fantastic. There's a nice driveway where we can park up to four cars easily, plus a double garage – we’ve used it not just for the cars but also for plenty of storage, with both an upper and lower section, and there's even a shed.
One of the things I’ll miss most is the view – it's absolutely fantastic. The house is south-facing, so in the summer, the sun just pours in. We've got a veranda out the back, which is perfect for sitting out and enjoying it. The kitchen-diner is one of my favourite rooms – it's big, airy, and opens straight onto the back garden. I’ve spent so much time in there, especially with the kids and grandkids over the years – we've had so much fun in the garden.
Now it’s just me and my husband, it’s too big for us, so we’ve decided it’s time to downsize. Living in Elburton has been lovely – the area is great, with local shops, a village atmosphere, good dentists, doctors, and schools – both primary and secondary. We’re close to the beach, just a short drive to Plymouth city centre, and there’s easy access to the A38 if you're heading to Exeter or beyond."
