Mylopotamos is a beautiful village in the southwest of Kythira. It was named Mylopotamos (mylos=mill, potamos=river)  because there are 22 watermills built along a small stream. It has been characterized as a traditional settlement. There are many natural and cultural attractions, such as the cave of Saint Sophia, the mills, the preserved settlement of Kato Chora with the Venetian Castle and the Byzantine church Saint Petros.
