Description

Originally built for the captain of the local steamboat around 1900, lies this remarkable home which is one of a few prestigious and historical homes around the Trossachs. Achray View sits elevated and overlooks the breathtaking and tranquil Loch Achray.

The house sits on approximately ¾ acre of land where gardens and woodland wrap all around the home. A charming burn runs through a section of the rear garden. A private access road weaves through the land which offers driveway parking for multiple vehicles at the house level. A brilliant, detached timber garage/workshop is also positioned on the land.

Internally, the home includes the following:

Ground floor: Entrance Hall, Living room, Kitchen with Dining area, Bedroom and Bathroom.

First floor: Two Bedrooms, one with Dressing room and En suite shower room.

Although Achray View began its life around the 1900’s, it has been brought bang up to date by the present owner. All rooms internally are a great size and the high ceilings create even more volume.

On entry, an inviting hallway connects to all rooms on the lower level and to the upper stairwell of the home. The dining kitchen is a bright room which frames views over the Loch. Around two years ago, a new Howdens kitchen was installed offering slick joinery, great storage provision and deep worktops for food preparation. Many of the appliances are neatly housed behind the units and the kitchen extractor is ducted outside. The floorspace permits ample room for a good-sized dining table.

The lounge is a super room, full of light and space. A woodburning stove creates a nice focal point and the floorspace permits various items of lounge furnishings. Large windows draw in a huge amount of light and a press style cupboard is tucked away in one corner.

One of the three bedrooms is located on the lower level, to the rear of the plan. Fitted wardrobes provide great storage. The room is flexible and could easily be set up as a home office or playroom dependant on buyers’ requirements. The lower level of the home is served by a striking three-piece bathroom suite with quality floor coverings.

The upper level is equally impressive. There are two great sized bedrooms, located off an upper landing. Both bedrooms have warm carpeting underfoot, are nicely decorated, and have windows to the front offering breathtaking views. The principal bedroom has its own private dressing area and a stylish ensuite shower room with Italian Porcelain tiling.

In 2021, a new oil central heating system was installed which also heats the hot water upon demand. Heating to the rooms is supplied by water filled steel radiators and is controlled via a hive system which includes the temperature control of the radiators.

The gardens are a delight, lots of space and very private. There are various seating areas to enjoy the summer sun and the views.

Located around 7 miles west of Callander at the top of the Dukes Pass, the loch lies between Loch Katrine and Loch Venachar in the heart of the Trossachs. The location of the home offers a varied selection of walks including a stroll around the Loch to conquering the surrounding peaks including the beautiful Ben A'an and Ben Venue.
The area also provides lower-level walks which explore the local woodlands and damns stepped in history which still supply Glasgow with its water supply.

Schooling is located within Callander and the beautiful Aberfoyle is a short 15-minute drive via the Dukes Pass.

Viewings to be arranged via the selling agents, Slater Hogg & Howison.
