Description
Culzean and Eilean Donan Lodges offer attractive two-bedroom, semi-detached chalets set in a tranquil rural location on Loch Awe’s scenic banks. The upper floor spacious living area features a balcony with far-reaching views of the loch and surrounding mountains. These lodges combine rustic charm with modern comforts, including an external decking area with a hot tub and an in-built sauna, creating an inviting and relaxing retreat. Positioned near local amenities, historic castles, and abundant walking trails, these properties present excellent opportunities for vacation living or holiday letting.
Situation
The Lodges at Portsonachan are located just a short drive from the local facilities and amenities in Dalmally, Inveraray and the main central hub of Oban. Loch Awe is one of the most famous lochs in Scotland with over 60 miles of shoreline. There are many historical sites dotted around its shores including several ruined castles with the most famous being Kilchurn to the northern end and many interesting islands with Innishail, the Burial Isle for the Dukes of Argyll easily accessible.
Dalmally has a thriving Primary School, modern Health Centre, Pharmacy, Post Office, Train Station and Church. Oban, to the west, is a busy town which offers a wide range of shopping and leisure facilities, as well as a very good range of bars and restaurants. Oban also has a number of primary schools, a high school, a medical centre, a modern hospital and churches of various denominations. It is known as the “Gateway to the Isles” with an attractive sea front and busy harbour from which the Caledonian MacBrayne ferries operate serving most of the inner Hebridean islands as well as two of the outer Hebridean islands. A railway station lies adjacent to the ferry terminal. The line serves Glasgow and beyond and services run on a regular basis.
Property
This charming lodge is accessed from the rear, entering into a central hallway on the ground floor where two spacious bedrooms await. Both bedrooms feature built-in wardrobes and enjoy open views over the front, with the larger bedroom benefiting from a private en-suite bathroom. A stylish family bathroom, complete with a tiled design, modern white suite, and cubicle shower, also leads to a relaxing sauna—an ideal retreat after a day of exploring.
Ascending the staircase, the main living area unfolds to capture breathtaking panoramic views across Loch Awe and the surrounding mountains. The welcoming family lounge, positioned at the front, opens onto a distinctive triangular balcony, flooding the space with natural light and creating a sense of openness. At the rear, the kitchen and dining area feature warm wooden base units complemented by granite-effect roll-top work surfaces. Designed to accommodate a freestanding oven and dishwasher, the kitchen is bright and airy thanks to French doors that open to the outside.
External Features
Enjoy outdoor living with a generous top-level decking area complete with a modern hot tub—perfect for unwinding while taking in the spectacular mountain backdrop. The surrounding gardens are predominantly laid to lawn, harmonising with the landscaping throughout the development. Access is via a private driveway leading to designated parking for each lodge. The location offers endless opportunities for walking, cycling, and immersing yourself in some of Scotland’s most stunning natural scenery.
