Description

"It’s been a great first home where we’ve started our family. The house is full of character and is cosy, warm space. There’s always lots going on in the community, being situated on the high street there’s great food and drink spots right on the door step as well. Our favourite spot as a family has been the nature reserve at the bottom of the road, we’ve made lasting memories there and is full of wildlife and peaceful place to spend a morning."

The Home

Set along Hanham’s characterful High Street, this beautifully presented period home perfectly blends charm and modern living. Behind its traditional façade, two elegant reception rooms offer versatile spaces for relaxing or entertaining, both enhanced by soft natural light and subtle period details. The contemporary kitchen has been thoughtfully designed with sleek cabinetry, integrated appliances, and generous work surfaces — a stylish yet functional heart of the home. Upstairs, the bedrooms are calm and inviting, complemented by a modern bathroom finished with clean lines and quality fittings. A cellar provides excellent additional storage but has the potential to be turned into a gym, cinema room or studio. With double glazing and gas central heating, the home combines period character with everyday comfort.

The Garden

Glazed doors open directly onto the south-facing garden, creating a seamless connection between indoors and outdoors. Bathed in all-day sun, the garden which has been thoughtfully redesigned and offers a peaceful escape from the bustle of the High Street. Laid out for low-maintenance living, it’s the perfect spot for morning coffee, weekend barbecues, or evening unwinding. While its direct access from the kitchen makes it ideal for entertaining or simply enjoying the outdoors year-round.

Living in Hanham

Hanham has become one of Bristol’s most sought-after neighbourhoods — a place where village charm meets city convenience. At your doorstep, the High Street is alive with independent cafés, bakeries, and shops. Locals love Grounded Hanham for brunch, Coffee#1 for a mid-morning pick-me-up, and The Jolly Sailor or The Old Lock & Weir by the river for relaxed weekend drinks. The Lion Pub and nearby Chequers Inn are friendly local favourites, both with a strong community following. Nature is never far away — Hanham Woods and Conham River Park offer beautiful riverside walks and cycle routes, while Troopers Hill Nature Reserve is just a short stroll away, with sweeping views across the Avon Valley. Families benefit from an excellent selection of schools, including Hanham Abbots Junior School and Wellsway School, both well regarded locally. For commuters, Bristol city centre is within easy reach by car or regular bus routes, while Bath is just a short drive in the opposite direction — giving Hanham the best of both worlds: a peaceful, community-minded setting with quick connections to city life.
