Many of the properties here are built using local stone, and appear similar to many of the properties in the Alpujarras on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada. A crystal-clear river runs through the village, and the church has a similar architectural style to the neighbouring Castillo de la Calahorra - a stunning monument built in the very early part of the 1500s and one of the first Renaissance Castles to be built outside Italy.

The cross-country ski centre at Puerta de la Ragua is only 15 minutes' drive away.
