Sutton is a large metropolitan town located in South London. The centre boasts a diverse wealth of shops, restaurants and bars. There are three train stations located around the area dependent on your location; Sutton Mainline, West Sutton and Sutton Common. All stations benefit from frequent trains into and out of London, London Victoria being just 30 minutes away! There is also an abundance of bus links to neighbouring towns such as Kingston, Wimbledon and Croydon, as well as to the smaller villages and suburbs in and around Surrey.
There are plenty of fantastic schools in the area with either single or mixed sex to choose from. Sutton Grammar School for boys and Nonsuch High School for girls both are excellent schools, achieving high grades for A-Levels and GCSEs and Devonshire Primary is a great infant school to choose.
Sutton has a rich heritage dating back to the Roman era, with evidence found of habitation in Beddington. Sutton was also mentioned in the Doomsday book and was recorded as having 30 houses with a population of around 200. In 1847, Sutton Railway Station opened and the population doubled in the following 10 years. The High Street became busier and ever popular, especially due to the easy access into central London and mainly consists of Victorian and Edwardian architecture with art-deco and more modern buildings intermingled.
Art and cultural awareness is rife in Sutton, with murals and sculptures adorning the streets, such as the heritage mosaic commissioned in 1994 by the borough to celebrate the areas copious heritage. Council Tax Band: Holding Deposit: £576.00
